Screen Media has just landed North American rights to the psychological thriller The Good Neighbor, starring Golden Globe Award winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers (“The Tudors,” “Dracula”) and Luke Kleintank (Midway, “The Man in the High Castle”), Bloody Disgusting learned.
Directed by Stephan Rick (The Dark Side of the Moon, The Super) from a script he co-wrote with Ross Partridge (“Room 104”), the remake of Rick’s successful German thriller Unter Nachbarn will receive a day-and-date theatrical release in June.
In the upcoming movie, “On a fateful night out, new neighbors David and Robert find themselves bonded by a hit-and-run accident. When the dead girl’s sister shows up to investigate, David, overcome with guilt, wonders if he can find redemption while Robert is determined to bury the past and keep his new friend for himself, no matter the cost.”
“The film is a modern tale about masculinity in crisis and the abyss we all look into, once the thin veil of civilization is ripped off,” says Rick.
