Microsoft has given those fans longing for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 some excitement today during the Xbox Games Showcase. Not only did Ninja Theory’s title get a new trailer, but the game finally has a release window of 2024. Yes, it’s still a massive wait for the game since its initial reveal back in 2019, but you know how the saying goes with those who wait.
As for the new trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, it’s once again a visual feast for the eyes, as well as an audible feast. Seriously, slap on some headphones to get the full effect of the audio, which plays with the directionals to really get inside your mind (once again returning to the previous game’s topic of mental health).
The footage kicks off with Senua struggling to crawl out of a confined area and into a cave as an internal voice talks to her. This continues as Senua wanders the cave, her internal voices bouncing off of each other until she comes face to face with her mirror image in the water. Her mirror image breaks through, pulling her into the water as the trailer ends.
Even more impressive with all of this is that according to Melina Jürgens (who is Senua’s performer in the game), this footage was all captured in-engine.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is currently in development for the Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Xbox. It will also be available day one on the Xbox Game Pass.
