Grasshopper Manufacture has announced that their remaster of Shadows of the Damned (which was teased last week) will “probably” be coming to all current platforms. The announcement was part of Grasshopper Direct 2023, which has to be seen to be believed.
The announcement was accompanied by an appropriately cheesy trailer, which played out more like an old-school ad for shopping the game around for retailers rather than its target audience. The also appropriately cheesy announcer proclaims that Shadows of the Damned protagonist Garcia Hotspur is back. “More terrifying than any demon. The most devoted, determined man in the world. Legendary demon hunter Garcia Hotspur. A nonstop action love story taking you straight through the deepest depths of hell.”
At the end of the trailer, the text proclaims that the Shadows of the Damned: Remaster is currently in development for all current platforms. Grasshopper Manufacture community manager James Mountain stated that they will keep fans updated on the remaster’s production “as soon we have more info to share.”
Originally released in June 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Shadows of the Damned put players in the boots of Garcia Hotspur, a hard-as-nails, leather-clad, motorcycle-riding professional demon hunter who finds his true love Paula has been kidnapped by vengeance-seeking demons. As he explores the furthest reaches of the netherworld, Garcia battles through Hell and back, with danger and turmoil around every corner.
