From the network behind “Yellowjackets,” Showtime’s “Let the Right One In” TV series is on the way, with the small screen project officially ordered to series. The series is of course based on John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel, which became the incredible Swedish movie Let the Right One In back in 2008, and then spawned the American remake Let Me In a couple years later.
Demián Bichir (The Nun) is attached to star in the “Let the Right One In” TV series, and Deadline brings us more casting news today. Željko Ivanek (Damages, Madam Secretary) and Fernanda Andrade (The Devil Inside, Narcos: Mexico, Sons of Anarchy) have both signed on as series regulars. Nick Stahl (Hunter Hunter) also recently signed on as a series regular.
Deadline notes, “Ivanek will play Arthur, a scientist who is the father of Claire (Grace Gummer) and the former CEO of a once proud but now disgraced pharmaceutical empire. Andrade will play Elizabeth, the spirited wife of Mark (Bichir) and devoted mother of Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez). Elizabeth’s love for her family motivates her to go to any length to protect them.”
The series has been given a 10-episode order from Showtime. The ensemble cast also includes Anika Noni Rose, Kevin Carroll, Ian Foreman and Jacob Buster.
“The series version centers on Mark (Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor (Baez), whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive.”
Andrew Hinderaker (Away) is the showrunner, with Seith Mann (Homeland) directing.
The project hails from Tomorrow Studios, who have been trying to get a “Let the Right One In” series off the ground for the last several years now, previously set up at A&E and TNT.
