A stop-motion horror fantasy film created by renowned artist Skinner (Mastodon, Adult Swim, Super Deluxe, High on Fire, Tony Hawk Pro Skater) and sculptor & monster maestro Ross Kennedy, Shrine of Abominations has finally been unearthed via a newly launched Kickstarter campaign, and Bloody Disgusting readers are going to want to become part of this madness!
The film is a culmination of the two creatives‘ loyalty and love for Jack Kirby’s weird cosmic stories of lost lore, and Ray Harryhausen’s monstrous entities from far off dimensions. The project has been filmed in secret over the past 6 years(!), and features collaboration from special effects legend Phil Tippett (Mad God) and other top animators at Tippett Studios.
Shrine of Abominations depicts a multi-dimensional battle of chaos versus even more chaos, in an expansive world of dark gods, wicked magic and strange creatures.
“Ross and Skinner have sculpted, painted and constructed every creature, set piece, rock and ruin by hand,” we’ve been told. The project is now entering the post-production stage, with “roughly forty minutes of footage” already animated. Their plan is to launch the Shrine of Abominations universe with “Chapter 1,” which will be only the first part in a much larger tale.
To do so, they have launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring Shrine of Abominations to colossal new heights, and they want YOU to become an accomplice to their occult creation.
Kickstarter Rewards include signed Blu-rays, foil-print posters, sculpted resin figures of the film’s main characters and even original artwork and paintings of key creatures from the film.
