Action auteur John Woo is back with the brand new action-thriller Silent Night, and the official trailer has arrived online after debuting in movie theaters this past weekend.
Entertainment Weekly debuted the Silent Night trailer, which you’ll find below. The film’s title has a dual meaning, referencing the Christmas setting while also referring to the fact that Silent Night is a mostly dialogue-free movie. The trailer is dialogue-free as well, focusing entirely on the explosive action and brutal violence John Woo is an expert at dishing out.
Speaking of which…
Silent Night has been rated “R” for “Strong bloody violence, drug use and some language,” and Entertainment Weekly reveals that’ll blast into theaters on December 1.
From Capstone Studios and Thunder Road Films, Silent Night stars Joel Kinnaman (The Suicide Squad) alongside Scott Mescudi (X), Harold Torres, and Catalina Sandino Moreno.
In Silent Night, written by Robert Archer Lynn (Prisoner, Deadbox), “A grieving father enacts his long-awaited revenge against a ruthless gang on Christmas Eve.”
John Woo told Vulture, “Very interesting movie. The whole movie is without dialogue. It allowed me to use visuals to tell the story, to tell how the character feels. We are using music instead of language. And the movie is all about sight and sound. The budget was a little tight, and the schedule was tight, but it made me change my working style. Usually, for a big movie, a studio movie, we shoot a lot of coverage, then leave it to the cutting room. But in this movie, I tried to combine things without doing any coverage shots. I had to force myself to use a new kind of technique. Some scenes were about two or three pages, but I did it all in one shot.”
