Can you believe we’re now just twenty days away from Christmas? That means we only have four more weeks left in the entire year, with a small handful of horror movies still on the way before we start making our “Best of 2021” lists. And yes, there will of course be several of those here on Bloody Disgusting in the coming weeks, so do make sure to stay tuned for that.
For starters, what can you expect from this first full week of December?
Here’s all the new horror arriving between December 6-December 12!
Easily the biggest new release for the week is Scream Factory’s Krampus: The Naughty Cut, a 4K Ultra HD release that provides us with a brand new version of the 2015 horror movie!
Krampus: The Naughty Cut will be released on Tuesday, December 7th.
Yes, this is a brand new, never-before-seen version of the 2015 holiday horror film. Scream Factory explains, “For the first time ever Michael’s Dougherty’s previously unseen “Naughty Cut” of the film will be seeing the light of day! This alternate version restores key dialogue and scenes that had to be trimmed from the original theatrical release to appease the MPAA.”
This definitive version of the film was supervised by Michael Dougherty himself. The release from Scream Factory will *not* include the theatrical version of the movie we know and love.
In Krampus, “When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.”
Executive produced by Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar), the award-winning short film Los Huesos (The Bones), directed by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña (The Wolf House), will be available to watch exclusively on MUBI globally from December 8, 2021.
“The film documents a ritual performed by a girl using human corpses and invoking the spirits of two damned Secretaries of State–central figures in the construction of an authoritarian and oligarchic Chile.”
The Bones features an original score by violinist Tim Fain. It has been met with critical acclaim, winning the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film at this year’s Venice Film Festival and the Critics’ Award for Best Official Selection Short Film at the Sitges Film Festival.
We move on to Thursday, December 9th for this next release, with a gory monster movie titled Death Valley on the way to the Shudder streaming service for the holiday season.
When a secret experiment goes horribly wrong, bioengineer Dr. Chloe (Kristen Kaster) becomes trapped inside a secret underground facility. With only 24 hours before a fatal decontamination protocol destroys the entire lab, Chloe deploys an emergency distress signal before a terrifying creature (Matthew Ninaber) of unknown origin can consume what’s left of her.
Alerted by the distress beacon, battle-weary guns for hire, Marshall (Ethan Mitchell) and Beckett (Jeremy Ninaber) are commissioned to carry out a covert operation to extract the imprisoned scientist. Upon deployment, the team is ambushed by another heavily armed militia hell-bent on finding a way into the compound themselves.
Severely outnumbered, the mercenaries find entry to the bunker through an unsealed emergency hatch only to find themselves in a horrific fight for survival. With time and ammunition running out, the team must locate Dr. Chloe while also navigating the underground maze of corridors before they’re hunted down one by one.
Magnet Releasing recently grabbed all rights to the indie horror Agnes, which hails from up-and-coming genre filmmaker Mickey Reece, director of Climate of the Hunter.
Agnes will be getting a theatrical and on-demand release December 10.
In the film, “A nun’s disturbing behavior sparks rumors of demonic possession at a remote convent. When a priest in waiting and his disillusioned mentor are sent to investigate, their methods backfire, leaving a wake of terror and trauma.”
Sonny Mallhi has produced films such as The Strangers and the critically acclaimed The Dark and the Wicked, and now he’s in the director’s chair for Hurt, available in theaters and to rent and own on North American digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms this Friday.
In the film, “A soldier reunites with his wife to take in the attractions at their favorite Halloween spot: the ‘Haunted Hayride.’ But when real terror follows them home, they must fight for their lives… or become the next attraction.”

The final new horror release for the week also comes on Friday. Blumhouse recently joined forces with EPIX to develop and produce eight standalone horror/genre-thriller movies exclusively for the network, the next of which is American Refugee, directed by Emmy award-winning multi-hyphenate Ali LeRoi, set to release on digital December 10th.
You’ll find it digitally from Paramount Home Entertainment, the same day as its EPIX premiere.
