The star of HBO’s hit series “The Last of Us,” Pedro Pascal was the host of “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend, and the sketch of the night brought Pascal into the world of another popular video game. Pascal plays the role of Super Mario in a sketch that imagines a faux HBO adaptation of “Mario Kart,” one that draws heavy inspiration from “The Last of Us” series.
Pascal’s Mario is tasked with getting Princess Peach to safety amid a post apocalyptic landscape, coming across other iconic characters from the Mario Bros. universe along the way.
Instead of the Clickers that Pascal is tasked with fending off in “The Last of Us,” he’s up against everything from the Goombas to Bowser in this horror take on the family-friendly games.
With recent films like The Mean One and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, it seems like it’s only a matter of time until we get a real movie that unofficially turns Nintendo’s hit franchise into a nightmare. But there’s zero chance it’ll be as awesome as THIS faux trailer promises…
