A series adaptation of James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera’s comic book series Something Is Killing the Children, is on the way from Netflix, Deadline reports this afternoon.
“Dark” creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese are at the helm of the “Something Is Killing the Children” small screen adaptation from Netflix and Boom! Studios.
“The series alights on a small town plagued by monsters that eat children and reveals a mysterious young woman who has the special powers to combat the creatures.”
“When the children of Archer’s Peak begin to go missing, everything seems hopeless. Most children never return, but the ones that do have terrible stories—impossible stories of terrifying creatures that live in the shadows. Their only hope of finding and eliminating the threat is the arrival of a mysterious stranger, one who believes the children and claims to see what they can see. Her name is Erica Slaughter. She kills monsters.”
Boom! Studios’ Stephen Christy and Ross Richie are executive-producing the Netflix adaptation, with co-creators Tynion and Dell’Edera co-executive producing the series.
As you may recall, Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy had originally be on board to co-write a pilot for a potential Netflix series adaptation of the comic book, but those plans fell through.
The popular series debuted in June 2019, nominated for an Eisner for Best New Series in 2020.
