Steelkrill Studio is back at it again. The creator of Trenches and The Backrooms 1998 has announced a new psychological sci-fi horror game in The Voidness. Set for release into Early Access on March 17 on Steam, The Voidness looks to be that perfect mix of strange and disturbing.
Taking place in space (naturally), The Voidness puts you in the role of a space specialist named Francesca Lee, one of the eight astronauts sent into a void filled with darkness to study its existence. The only way to see is by scanning the environment with your range finder device. You’ll also be using your scanner to help find upgrades, mark landmarks and more. However, as you might expect, you’re not alone in the void.
Trend carefully while in the void, as stepping on debris will make “them” hear you. “They” will also see you if you are within their line of sight. Upping the ante is the fact that “they” will even hear you when you are in hiding spots, from your microphone. Luckily, this only happens while in hiding, and this feature is completely optional.
The only way to see just whatever it is that’s out there is by scanning.
