“We started getting visitors… from every universe.”
The hotly-anticipated official trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home has debuted tonight, as promised, and this one takes an even deeper dive into the MCU’s Multiverse.
Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker in the new Jon Watts-directed sequel, whose identity as Spider-Man has been exposed to the world. This time around, Peter seeks out the help of Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange, who casts a spell to make the world forget. That’s the original plan, at least. Of course, it has disastrous (and bizarre) consequences…
Strange’s spell ends up cracking open the Multiverse, allowing for the return of Willem Dafoe‘s Green Goblin and Alfred Molina‘s Doctor Octopus from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films! Jamie Foxx‘s Electro and Lizard from the Amazing Spider-Man movies also appear in this new trailer, which sees Holland’s Peter Parker experiencing events from Spidey past.
This is all of course part of the build towards the future of the MCU and next year’s release of Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will further explore the darkest side of the MCU’s Multiverse. The MCU is about to get… strange.
Here’s the official plot synopsis…
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”
No Way Home opens exclusively in movie theaters December 17.
