Sure, having Starship Troopers as an RTS is one thing, but what if you wanted to get down and dirty with the Arachnids up close? Offworld Industries has the answer with Starship Troopers: Extermination, a new 12-player, squad-based co-op FPS that’s set to arrive in Early Access on Steam in 2023.
In Starship Troopers: Extermination, players can team up in squads of 4 to battle the Bugs as part of the Deep Space Vanguard, an elite Special Forces group within the Mobile Infantry. You’ll battle across a massive map with five unique zones in swarm-based combat against hordes of bloodthirsty insectoid aliens on the hostile surface of the planet Valaka.
You’ll have three Classes to choose from in Assault, Support, and Defense to best suit your playstyle and support the rest of your squad. Similar to another bug hunting game, as you battle the Arachnids, you’ll gain experience to unlock new weapons, equipment, and perks for each class. As for the enemy, you’ll face off against five Bug types once the game hits Early Access: Drone, Warrior, Gunner, Plasma Grenadier, and Tiger Elite
You’ll have to work together in Starship Troopers: Extermination in order complete objectives, acquire resources, build and defend your base of operations, and then escape to the extraction point together. The Bugs seemingly know this, and the intensity of their attacking swarms will increase as you progress.
