Netflix‘s hit series “Squid Game” is DEFINITELY getting a second season, with creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirming that he was developing Season 2 back in November 2021.
So when can we expect “Squid Game” Season 2? It’ll be a while.
Vanity Fair reports, “[Hwang] only has about three pages’ worth of ideas that he plans to turn into a script, so there isn’t much he can say except that there will be more games.”
According to the site, a late 2023 premiere is possible for “Squid Games” Season 2. They note, however, “A Season 2 release in 2024 is also in the realm of possibility.”
“Humanity is going to be put to a test through those games once again,” Hwang tells Vanity Fair. “I want to ask the question, ‘Is true solidarity between humans possible?’”
“Squid Games” was a massive hit for Netflix when it premiered in Fall 2021, becoming the most-watched original series in the history of the streaming service.
According to Netflix, “the Squid Game universe has just begun.”
In the South Korean series, “Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children’s games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes. A survival game that has a whopping 45.6 billion-won prize at stake.”
