We had briefly mentioned Puppet Combo’s Deadly Night a few months back when it was revealed during the Puppet Combo Direct. After experiencing a slight delay from its original August 11th release, the game is expected to be released this Friday on Steam. And we’ve got a new trailer for the throwback stealth horror title.
Billed as “the sleaziest low-poly slasher ever created” by developer Cubyte Games (the solo developer behind NIGHT GUARD and La Compana), Deadly Night puts players in the shoes of Carol, who is down on her luck and hitchhiking across the country. Arriving at a small roadside motel, there’s something strange about the owner. Things get weirder and more sinister when Carol is abducted from one hell and dropped into another. Now in a bloody game of cat-and-mouse, Carol must use her wits to escape with her life.
Part of “using her wits” involves you, the player, hiding from the killer in closets, under beds, cabinets and whatever else in order to survive and elude capture. Deadly Night is touted as a cinematic experience that encourages replayability with the game’s multiple endings. Carol’s not the only one trapped in this deadly game, so you’ve got to decide whether to save them, or save yourself.
Your twisted hide-and-seek game with the killer will take you through an abandoned ramshackle home, desolate farmland, and a maze-like forest. All the while, you’ll be discovering secrets “in the nightmare-scapes of a traumatized mind”, where these memories and hallucinations will become your own!
