Stephen King loves autumn. So many of his novels are chock full of crunchy leaves, sweater weather, and the kind of dusks you can only find in October and November. Like Halloween, though, he’s never really had a story set around Thanksgiving. Instead, he’s used the holiday to help set the table, to borrow a very obvious pun, for a number of his sordid stories.
That’s why The Losers’ Club is celebrating this year’s Thanksgiving in King’s Dominion by digging up all his tastiest tales for you, Constant Listeners. Yes, just as they did for Halloween, Christmas, and even Valentine’s Day, the Losers are turning to the stacks to name the 10 best Stephen King titles everyone should be reading before the turkey’s sliced and diced.
Joining the Losers Michael Roffman and Jenn Adams for this hearty conversation are special guests Janelle Janson of Dark Matter Magazine and Cemetery Dance and author Jason Pellegrini (If I Could Have Lived Another Day, Booth). Together, they take a fork and knife to King’s oeuvre and also share some of their own respective memories with the holiday.
(Note: This conversation was originally recorded in November 2021 for the Losers’ Club Patreon, The Barrens. It has since been unlocked from the Derry Private Library by Mike Hanlon.)
Stream the episode below and return next week when the Losers share the hottest takes to ever scorch King’s Dominion. For further adventures, join the Losers’ Club over long days and pleasant nights via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, RadioPublic, Acast, Google Podcasts, and RSS. You can also unlock hundreds of hours of exclusive content in The Barrens (Patreon).
