Ahead of “Stranger Things 4” premiering its 7-episode “Volume 1” this Friday (hey, that’s tomorrow!), Netflix has been going hard on promoting the return of the hit series. Here in the United States, you can currently “Mind Order” pizza from Domino’s in a special retro 1980s box, and now over in South London you can step foot inside an Upside Down pizza shop!
Yeah, it’s a very pizza-themed marketing campaign all around. We’re okay with that.
“Upon finding the secret East London popup location, titled Slice of the Upside Down, Stranger Things fans can take a trip into the Upside Down and visit the UK’s only branch of Surfer Boy Pizza, as seen in the new season,” Netflix explains to Bloody Disgusting today.
Here’s everything you need to know…
“After cryptic 80s Stranger Things influenced posters started appearing across London this week, fans have been busy trying to crack the hidden code that reveals the location of the pop-up. On Monday evening, what appeared to be a portal into the Upside Down slowly started to open outside recording studio The White Rabbit in London’s Shoreditch.
“Now fully open until Sunday evening, the portal leads fans into the Upside Down world of Stranger Things. From the smell, to the unknown flying particles, to the vines, fans will enjoy a multi-sensory immersive experience where actors will guide them through a tunnel into Surfer Boy Pizza.
“Once “safely” inside the pizza shop, fans will have the opportunity to take a pic in the photo booth as well as be treated to a limited-edition Demogorgon pizza, created and designed in collaboration with Yard Sale exclusively for the season 4 launch.
“This outer-dimensional experience is not to be missed by Stranger Things fans and foodies alike. The experience allows up to four people to enter at a time and operates on a first come, first served basis. Those unable to make it down to the activation will still have the chance to sample the Demogorgon pizza as the Surfer Boy Pizza delivery van will be out and about around central London, handing out Veggie, Vegan and Gluten Free variations of the monster-inspired pizza to hungry fans.”
