The wait for F.E.A.R. fans to get their fix with Trepang Studios’ Trepang2 is over. The grisly supernatural FPS is finally out on Steam today, with the shooter blasting onto the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series later this year. And hey, the Steam demo is still very much available for you to take a test run.
Described as a spiritual successor to the fast-paced and over-the-top first-person shooters of the mid-2000s (namely Monolith’s gloriously spooky shooter), Trepang2 “pairs high-octane, first-person gun-fu gameplay with a devastating heavy metal soundtrack”. Stepping into the boots of a newly enhanced super soldier broken out from a government black site, you’ll embark on a supernatural journey of death, destruction, and corporate conspiracies.
Arm yourself with a hefty arsenal of weapons while mastering an array of newfound superhuman abilities including time distortion invisibility and superhuman speed, all the while hunted by your former captors and even more otherworldly foes. Along with your array of guns, you’ve also got melee combat to pulverize your enemies with a combination of punches, kicks and slides.
And if the Trepang2‘s campaign doesn’t satisfy you, you can engage in the game’s Horde mode, taking on waves of ruthless spec-ops forces and see how long you can survive. Oh, and that heavy metal soundtrack? You can still snag the soundtrack to the demo for Trepang2 from composer Brandon McKagan‘s Bandcamp page!
