Just over a year after the series came to an end, a “Supernatural” prequel series in the works, titled “The Winchesters.” A pilot episode for the project has now been ordered up.
Deadline reports that the “Supernatural” prequel, which will center on Sam and Dean’s parents, John and Mary Winchester, “tells the epic love story of how they met and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world. It will be told through the perspective of narrator Jensen Ackles’ Dean Winchester.” Yes, Ackles is back to narrate the series.
Deadline also reminds, “John and Mary were played on the show by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Samantha Smith. Mary was killed by a demon when Sam was still a baby. Investigating her death, John becomes a hunter and then passes on his knowledge and skills to his sons. John was a recurring character in the first season and died in the Season 2 premiere.”
“Supernatural” exec producer Robbie Thompson is writing and executive producing.
Jensen Ackles is also executive producing the project.
