This morning kicked off with the first official teaser trailer for David Cronenberg‘s return to horror, titled Crimes of the Future and set to premiere as a Cannes Official Selection.
Crimes of the Future will arrive exclusively in theaters this June, and if you’re looking for more in the meantime, the French trailer below should succeed in holding you over.
This alternate trailer features a whole bunch of new footage from Cronenberg’s new movie, including some highly intriguing teases of the body horror we’re in store for here. It also paints a bit more of a picture about the film’s storyline, as this trailer is loaded with dialogue while the U.S. trailer featured very little dialogue. Watch the French trailer down below…
In the film, “As the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), celebrity performance artist, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances.
“Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealed… Their mission – to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.”
The film’s cast also includes Scott Speedman, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar, Lihi Kornowski, Tanaya Beatty, Nadia Litz, Yorgos Karamichos, and Yorgos Pirpassopoulos.
NEON is on board to release Crimes of the Future in the United States.
