Publisher 2 Wedges and developer Here Be Monsters are mixing up the traditional Survival Horror fare with their newly-announced dungeon RPG, LURKS WITHIN WALLS. Inspired by Resident Evil (obviously), along with Square’s classic Parasite Eve, and Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei series, the fast-paced turn-based combat title is currently in development for PC via Steam. No release date has been announced as of yet.
LURKS WITHIN WALLS‘ story is a bit cryptic at the moment, but all you’ll need to know for now is that there’s a building under quarantine, with its inhabitants isolated from the outside. Those who weren’t able to isolate themselves from the other residents now wander through the corridors of the building, contaminated. But they aren’t the only ones you should be aware of, as the darkness conceals other anomalies. It’s as if the building itself is alive…
Given that setup, you get the idea of the dungeon-crawling you’ll have to undertake in LURKS WITHIN WALLS. Choose to play as the surviving residents, armed with pipes and makeshift weapons, or the police officers striving to eliminate threats and save the remaining survivors. You’ll engage in intense, tactical battles against a range of nightmarish creatures, designed by Trevor Henderson, the creator of Siren Head. Gather weapons and items, and confront the threats. However, you’ll need to employ strategy and resource management in order to survive.
