Our friends over at Terror Vision announced four brand new upcoming releases this week, including SCREAMBOX movies Welcome to Hell and Cube, as well as 1988 film Captives.
The fourth movie announced by Terror Vision this week? The 1981 Indonesian horror movie Srigala, a slasher that was heavily inspired by the original Friday the 13th!
As Paul Le wrote here on BD earlier this year, “The 1981 Indonesian movie Srigala is by no means known by the masses, but those in the loop about vintage and obscure Southeast Asian horror are aware of its existence for one reason. The director of the original Satan’s Slaves, once a steady provider of Indonesia’s homegrown horrors, joined the legion of eager filmmakers who set out to make their own slasher after watching the first Friday the 13th.”
Terror Vision previews their upcoming release, “Terror Vision is proud to present a new 2K scan of Putra’s original camera negative for Srigala, making its worldwide disc debut with two minutes of additional footage and newly shot extras that include an interview with actor Barry Prima! More blood! More guts! More scuba diving!
“Sisworo Gautama Putra was just getting started on what would be a prolific career when 1980’s Friday the 13th inspired the Indonesian filmmaker to helm Srigala (“Wolf”) a year later. The nods to Cunningham’s slasher whodunit are obvious, but Putra’s love for the color-drenched storytelling of Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci’s rotting ghouls is also present in a movie that would go on to recognition as a benchmark in Southeast Asian entertainment.”
Special Features include:
- Newly Created Subtitles
- Interview w/ Gope Samtani
- Interview w/ Barry Prima
- Interview w/ Lydia Kandou
- Interview w/ Dorman Borisman
In the film, “A trio of treasure hunters venture to a remote lake in search of a submerged fortune but run into unexpected company in some vacationing college friends. The fortune trackers attempt to scare the coeds away with stories of ghosts and demons, but all end up in a fight for survival as someone, or something, is hunting them down one-by-one.”
The Blu-ray from Terror Vision is now available for pre-order, shipping June 15.
