Released in 2020, The Babysitter: Killer Queen was a sequel to 2017’s The Babysitter, bringing back the main players to continue the tale of a young man and his struggles with a devil-worshiping cult that just can’t seem to die. The post-credits scene showed that the Devil’s Book is still hanging around, but does that mean a third movie is in the works?
According to director McG, who helmed both The Babysitter and The Babysitter: Killer Queen, the possibility of a third film in the franchise is very much still on the table.
“Yeah, we’re still talking about it,” McG tells ComicBook.com. “It was fun. The first movie, obviously, gave Samara Weaving to the world, and the second movie was Jenna Ortega. Hopefully we can answer the call and find a third star that reaches those lofty heights.”
“There have always been three beats to this story,” McG explained to Bloody Disgusting’s own Boo Crew Podcast back in 2020, shortly after the release of Killer Queen. “There’s the first beat, which is an adolescent Cole, who is having these strange feelings about the babysitter. But naturally it’s not appropriate for him to realize those feelings with a grown woman. In the second film he’s in an age where he can experience love… and we could explore that.”
He continued, “I don’t want to talk about the third beat of the Cole arc. But should the audience like this movie, we’re ready to do the third one. Let’s see if people like this one.”
Both The Babysitter and The Babysitter: Killer Queen were released by Netflix, so we assume the ball is entirely in their court for a possible third movie. Stay tuned for more.
