One of last year’s best horror movies is Justin Powell and David Charbonier’s thrilling indie horror The Boy Behind the Door, an unrelentingly intense boundary-pushing thriller (our review).
Now, the gripping, powerful tale of survival and friendship in the face of evil is finally coming home to Digital, DVD, and Blu-ray on March 15, 2022.
In the film, “A night of unimaginable terror awaits twelve-year-old Bobby and his best friend, Kevin, when they are abducted on their way home from school.
“Managing to escape his confines, Bobby navigates the dark halls, praying his presence goes unnoticed as he avoids his captor at every turn. Even worse is the arrival of another deranged stranger, whose mysterious arrangement with the kidnapper may spell certain doom for Kevin.
“With no means of calling for help and miles of dark country in every direction, Bobby embarks on a rescue mission, determined to get himself and Kevin out alive… or die trying.“
While Powell and Charbonier may have created a white-knuckle, visceral experience, it’s not without a few moments of reprieve. Here’s an exclusive clip from The Boy Behind the Door that sees Bobby (Lonnie Chavis) and Kevin (Ezra Dewey) figure out how to use an outdated phone.
The filmmakers explained, “This was a really fun scene for us. Because the movie is so dark in tone, it was important to find some natural moments of levity while also reminding the audience that these are indeed kids forced to confront a very terrifying and insidious reality.”
