After three seasons and a main character change from the first season to the second, we’ve learned this afternoon that “Batwoman” has now been cancelled by The CW.
Showrunner Caroline Dries tweets, “Just got the sad news that #Batwoman will not be seeing an S4. I am bummed, but full of gratitude. What an honor to make 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant people contributed to this series. Thank you producers, cast and crew.”
“Thank you, fans! We love you,” Dries adds.
The debut season of “Batwoman” centered on Kate Kane, played by Ruby Rose, with both the second and third seasons centered on a new Batwoman, Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder.
The series had thus far followed the two different Batwoman characters overcoming their personal demons by becoming vigilantes and fighting crime in Gotham City.
“Batwoman” premiered in October 2019, with 51 episodes airing in total. The series featured various iconic DC characters, most recently Nicole Kang as Poison Ivy in Season 3.
