“The Exorcist” TV Series – Vudu Selling Both Seasons of Excellent Series for Just $5 Total!

This year’s David Gordon Green-directed The Exorcist: Believer – the first film in a planned trilogy – marked the franchise’s return to the big screen after a nearly 20-year absence, but The Exorcist franchise hadn’t exactly been lying dormant in the past several years.

Back in 2016, “The Exorcist” became a short-lived television series at Fox, which was surprisingly excellent and cleverly took place in the same world as the original classic.

Unfortunately, Fox ended up pulling the plug on the Jeremy Slater-created “The Exorcist” series after just two seasons, the show officially coming to an end in mid-2018.

The reason? Low viewership, of course. While the first season of “The Exorcist” debuted with nearly 3 million viewers, that number dropped to under 2 million viewers as the season went on. By the time “The Exorcist” Season 2 finale came along, just over 1 million viewers tuned in. It wasn’t enough for Fox to order up a planned third season, and the series was cancelled.

Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels starred as the titular exorcists in the Jeremy Slater-created series, which brilliantly tied into William Friedkin’s The Exorcist in its debut season. The season, initially unbeknownst to any of us, centered on an adult Regan MacNeil, played by Geena Davis. Season 2 told an entirely new story, with Herrera and Daniels at the center of the tale.

It’s strange to see a franchise nail a legacy sequel resurrection and then hit the reboot button and attempt an entirely different legacy sequel resurrection just five years later, but sometimes that’s just the way it goes in Hollywood. If you’re one of the many horror fans not exactly thrilled about how The Exorcist: Believer turned out, now may be a good time to revisit Fox’s short-lived television series continuation of the horror classic. And if you never got around to seeing the show when it first aired, now is DEFINITELY the right time to give it a spin.

The good news? You can digitally purchase BOTH seasons of Fox’s “The Exorcist” for just $5.00 on Vudu right now. The Season 1 & Season 2 bundle normally goes for $59.80!

Grab these up while you can. That price is going up any minute now.
