Adam Wingard‘s The Guest, released in 2014, never got a sequel despite finding itself a massive audience, but today the property has returned with a brand new… sequel soundtrack?!
Yes, The Guest 2 has come to life here in 2022 as an original soundtrack for a movie that doesn’t actually exist, and yes, we’re aware today is April 1st. But this one, we promise, is real!
From Lakeshore Records, The Guest 2: Original Soundtrack is AVAILABLE NOW through Spotify, packed with 12 brand new tracks that let you imagine the sequel that may never be.
Contributors to The Guest II include OGRE Sound, Steve Moore, Ghost Cop, Adam Wingard, Xander Harris, Lone Runner, and more, and it’s all retro 80s-style synth goodness.
Wingard’s The Guest was written by Simon Barrett, and it essentially mashes together the best of Terminator and John Carpenter’s Halloween. Dan Stevens stars as “David,” a soldier who introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence. Maika Monroe co-stars as Anna Peterson.
In addition to being a kickass movie, The Guest also featured one hell of a soundtrack that fans still regularly spin, so it’s only fitting that the sequel comes to us in this particular form.
Listen to The Guest 2 over on Spotify right now!
