Ever since that multiplayer project for The Last of Us hit a delay, fans have apparently been a bit obsessive as to when we’d finally see it. So much so, that Naughty Dog’s Vinit Agarwal, the director of the project, had to put out a tweet saying that the game is still very much alive.
Eurogamer reported that Agarwal had last week posted an unrelated post to X regarding his progress with Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Anticipating that fans would swoop in asking about the multiplayer project, Agarwal included that “I’m still working on that game.”
Agarwal never followed up his initial post or responded to any questions, but that didn’t stop fans from leaving dozens of comments regarding the standalone multiplayer game for The Last of Us, which was rumoured to be have been cancelled in the wake of recent Naughty Dog layoffs.
This confirmation also comes on the heels of the recent rumour that The Last of Us Part II was getting the remaster treatment, as well as a “new single player experience” for TLOU that was also teased by Naughty Dog.
Meanwhile, HBO’s adaptation of the video game will head to Vancouver early next year to begin production on its second season, with a premiere targeting sometime in 2025.
