Franchise rights holders Horror Inc. officially launched the Jason Universe back in May, said to be the dawning of a “new era” for the long-dormant Friday the 13th franchise.
What does that mean, you ask? We were told at the time, “New Friday the 13th activations will span a wide range of platforms from entertainment, games, immersive experiences, merchandise and more to be announced throughout 2024.” Horror Inc. said in a statement, “We can’t wait to introduce new Jason Universe activations to these amazing fans.”
On that note, IGN lets us know this week that the Jason Universe is headed to San Diego Comic-Con this week, offering up exclusive merchandise at the StylinOnline Tower of T-Shirts booths (#415 and #5029). The merch includes two different t-shirts as well as a pin, each of them featuring the brand new Jason Universe logo and Jason’s iconic hockey mask.
IGN details this morning, “The label pin will be available for free at SDCC, while the shirts are priced at $27.99 each.” Quantities for all three items, the website notes, will be limited.
As part of the new Jason Universe venture, Jason Voorhees has slashed his way into the WB video game MultiVersus, while A24’s TV series “Crystal Lake” is currently still in development.
It’s possible that Horror Inc. could be making some new Jason Universe announcements at SDCC, but at this time they’re only promising the aforementioned merchandise offerings.
Stay tuned for our SDCC coverage beginning tomorrow.
