The next installment of The Conjuring Universe is set to be The Nun 2, with Bloody Disgusting letting you know last week that Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) will be taking over as director. Confirmed by producer James Wan shortly thereafter, Bonnie Aarons will be back, again playing the demon known as Valak.
Today, the film’s official Twitter account has tweeted out a link to a casting call for The Nun 2 from Cast It Talent, which includes a brief plot synopsis for the upcoming sequel.
Here’s the first The Nun 2 plot synopsis: “1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit THE NUN follows SISTER IRENE as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force VALAK – THE DEMON NUN.”
The first movie back in 2018 was set in 1952 Romania, so the sequel will be picking up just four years later. Sister Irene is the character played by Taissa Farmiga in The Nun, but the casting call doesn’t reveal whether or not Farmiga will be back. Stay tuned.
The Nun 2 will be shooting in France later this year. Learn more on Cast It Talent.
Back in 2018, The Nun scared up a whopping $365 million at the worldwide box office, all but ensuring that we haven’t seen the last of the demonic nun known as Valak.
Last we heard, Akela Cooper (Malignant) will be writing The Nun 2.
In Corin Hardy’s The Nun, “A priest with a haunted past and a novice on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate the death of a young nun in Romania and confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun.”
