Recently acquired by Sony, Liverpool-based Firesprite Games (who created the sci-fi horror shooter The Persistence) has announced via a new job posting that they’re currently working on a new horror game using Epic’s shiny new Unreal Engine 5. The listing is for a “Narrative Director to join our development team for a AAA narrative driven horror-adventure game in Unreal 5.”
For those unaware, Firesprite’s The Persistence was originally developed for VR, but later expanded in a non-VR version for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. The story had players on board a colony vessel in space that has been overrun mutant copies of the ship’s inhabitants. Players must fight their way through the horrifying monstrosities and try to course-correct a landing on Earth by fixing the ship.
Details on their new project are still unknown. However, the position of Narrative Director has the person “responsible for the project storytelling, helping establish & consider the game’s universe and lore, with responsibility for the quality implementation of narrative content for project milestones and ultimately the game’s release.”
More recently, The Persistence had an enhanced version released for PS5 and PC last June.
