Let’s be honest: we all saw this coming. Capcom has once again updated their list of million-selling “Platinum Titles”, and to no one’s surprise, their remake of Resident Evil 2 is now the highest-selling entry in the series. Resident Evil 2 has now sold 12.60 million units across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC have surpassed Resident Evil 7‘s 12.40 million units.
The Resident Evil games are still a ways off from the top spot, which is currently held by Monster Hunter: World‘s 19 million units sold. However, the Resident Evil franchise now takes up six of the top 10 spots in Capcom’s list.
In fact, Capcom’s latest in the Resident Evil 4 remake is rapidly climbing the chart since its release earlier this year, with 4.9 million units sold. However, this number is already out of date, since Capcom announced last week that the RE4 remake has eclipsed 5 million.
You can expect that number to jump even more if Capcom confirms the “Separate Ways” DLC is indeed on the way. Regardless, the number will still increase once the VR Mode is released exclusively for the PlayStation VR 2.
Meanwhile, Devil May Cry 5 could enter the top 10 if it beats out Street Fighter V‘s 7.3 million units. The best-selling DMC entry currently sits at 7.2 million units across PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
