In addition to brand new family member Hands, a distant cousin of the Slaughter Family who kickstarted Leatherface’s obsession with wearing human skin masks, Gun has announced today that Maria Flores is also being added into The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on June 11!
The game’s players will understand the significance of Maria being added as a playable survivor character, as the prequel storyline has been entirely centered on the disappearance of her character. Maria’s sister, Ana Flores, is one of the game’s main survivor characters, joined by her friends in an effort to locate her missing – and presumed dead – sister.
We had assumed all this time that Maria Flores was killed by Leatherface and his twisted family, but it seems that Maria will live to fight another day. Watch the reveal trailer below!
Gun previews, “Maria Flores, voiced by the talented Stephanie Panisello, is the heart and soul for our cast of Victims. Her disappearance sent shockwaves across central Texas and her sister Ana’s life. As a lover of art and nature, Maria’s fateful trip (head to her Instagram page here) to explore the vast Texas countryside during wildflower season put her in grave danger with the Slaughter Family. Having caught the attention of ‘Pretty Boy’ Johnny, she was stalked and abducted by him. Maria seemed lost to the outside world.”
“However, deep within the bowels of the Slaughter Family’s property, Maria was alive and fighting like hell for her survival,” the character’s official description continues. “Amidst the horrors, she began to realize that something strange was happening. She was being kept alive because of Grandpa. His affinity towards her was perhaps some sort of past connection. All she knows is that she has to use this vulnerability against Grandpa to escape the nightmarish hell she’s living in and escape for good!
“Maria’s Star Sign Ability is called Sweet Talk. She causes Grandpa’s Sonar ability to highlight Family members, instead of Victims, to gain an advantage on them. This major gameplay shake up reverses Grandpa Sonar ability to allow for more strategic play. Maria’s Sweet Talk can be modified through her ability tree such as having Grandpa highlight Family members in close proximity to him, reduce Grandpa’s level by 1, and reduce cooldown times. A perk we wanted to highlight is Pep Talk, which grants Maria the ability to heal by a certain percentage after sweet-talking Grandpa. Due to consistently placing herself in danger, her ability rewards the bravest and the toughest of players in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.”

The game features classic villains from the movies as well as new family members, and the events of the Chain Saw game take place *before* Tobe Hooper’s original classic.
