Less than a week after announcing the third playable clan in the Banu Haqim for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, Paradox and developer The Chinese Room have announced Ventrue as the fourth clan in the base game for players to select.
Described as “blue blooded tyrants”, Ventrue incite obedience in both their allies and their foes. Seeing themselves as the rightful leaders of vampire society, the members of Ventrue take up leadership positions wherever possible. That often includes high positions in the Camarilla Courts.
The clan uses the Disciplines of Presence and Dominate to mesmerize as well as awe those who encounter the clan. That also includes having those unfortunate victims snap their own necks if the Ventrue so chooses. Feeding builds up Fortitude, allowing the Ventrue to soak up more damage in case any enemy is powerful enough to resist their force of will.
Alongside the Banu Haqim, the Ventrue join the Brujah and Tremere as the four available clans for players in Bloodlines 2. Additional clans will be available for players to choose from via DLC once the game launches next year.
Bloodlines 2 has players taking on the role of Phyre, an Elder vampire at odds with the voice in her head, who confronts Seattle’s powerful elites at war over the City’s fate. Along with choosing Phyre’s gender, players are able to choose their clan, each with their own background and unique Disciplines. Choices and conversations shape how the environment and characters react to Phyre, changing how the story unfolds.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is currently in development for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series. The game is aiming for a Fall 2024 release.
