Liam Hemsworth takes over the role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s “The Witcher” Season 4, and we’ve learned today that Laurence Fishburne (“Hannibal”) is also joining the cast.
Fishburne joins the series as Regis, a fan favorite from the “Witcher” books and games.
The character of Regis, introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire, is a world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who joins Geralt on his journey in Season 4.
Laurence Fishburne said in a statement this morning, “I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher.”
Fishburne joins Liam Hemsworth as well as Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan and Joey Batey in the highly anticipated 4th Season of the globally renowned, award winning show which will return to production this Spring.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other.
If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.
Laurence Fishburne’s roles in the horror genre include A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Event Horizon, Predators, and Bryan Fuller’s NBC series “Hannibal.”
“The Witcher” Season 4 will be the show’s first season without Henry Cavill.
