Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer and Susan Sarandon played The Witches of Eastwick in Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller’s 1987 movie, and now it looks like another adaptation of John Updike’s same-titled novel is on the way all these years later.
Screen Daily reports that Warner Bros. is behind the remake/re-adaptation, and they’ve hired Ninja Thyberg (Pleasure) to write the script and direct the new take on the material.
The site notes, “Thyberg is about to start writing the script; it is not yet confirmed if her screenplay will be based on Miller’s version which was adapted by writer Michael Cristofer, or on John Updike’s 1984 novel of the same name on which the first film was based.”
In the 1987 movie, “Three single women in a picturesque village have their wishes granted, at a cost, when a mysterious and flamboyant man arrives in their lives.”
Jack Nicholson also starred in George Miller’s original. Watch the trailer below.
