Released last year for PC on Steam, Blazing Bit Games throwback looter shooter Nightmare Reaper is now setting its sights on consoles. Nightmare Reaper will arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X on May 11th, with Feardemic handling the publishing duties.
Sporting an impressive array of 80 unique weapons and a crunching soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult, Nightmare Reaper is inspired by the classic 2.5D first-person shooters of the 90s, with elements of modern looter shooters and roguelites. The game puts you in the depths of a nightmare of your own making. In order to find your way out, you’ll have to use your arsenal to blow away demons.
Tons of enemies are crammed in open-ended levels full of random events and secrets, not to mention geysers of blood and treasure. Use said treasure to purchase tons of character upgrades and new abilities via minigames.
That’s on top of Nightmare Reaper‘s several game modes and mod support, which adds things such as the recently-added Redux Mode, and the ability to speedrun the game (if you’re the type who enjoys that sort of challenge).
While you wait, you can check out Neil’s take on the PC version of the game.
