Tim Burton Celebrates the End of Filming on ‘Beetlejuice 2’ With Set Photo Taken in Familiar Location

Filming on Beetlejuice 2 has officially wrapped as the calendar flips from November to December, and Tim Burton has celebrated with a post over on Instagram this morning.

Burton writes, “Just finished shooting Beetlejuice [2]. Thank you to everyone involved.”

The photo sees Burton himself seated in the Neitherworld Waiting Room, an iconic location from the original Beetlejuice movie that will return in the upcoming sequel.

Filming on Beetlejuice 2 was originally expected to wrap much earlier in the year, but there was a delay due to the SAG-AFTRA strike that brought Hollywood to a halt this summer.

Beetlejuice 2 is scheduled to haunt theaters on September 6, 2024, and the cast features Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci.

No word yet on plot details, but it’s known that Jenna Ortega will be playing the daughter of Lydia Deetz, the character Winona Ryder is of course returning to play.

Justin Theroux recently joined the cast of Beetlejuice 2 as well, with frequent Burton collaborator Danny Elfman coming back to compose the film’s score.

The original Beetlejuice was directed by Burton in 1988 and has become a cult favorite. It starred Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as ghosts who haunt their old home. When a little girl (Winona Ryder) accidentally unleashes a mischievous ghost (Michael Keaton), the ghosts try to drive the homeowners (Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Jones) out of the house.
