Instead of a new movie, it looks like Lara Croft will return with a small screen series over at Amazon Prime Video, with THR reporting on the brand new “Tomb Raider” project today.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”) is developing – and writing – a “Tomb Raider” series for Amazon as part of the Emmy winner’s overall deal with the streaming service.
THR reports, “In addition to writing, Waller-Bridge will exec produce the Amazon take alongside former head of comedy and drama Ryan Andolina and former head of overall deals Amanda Greenblatt.” The site notes that Waller-Bridge does not plan to star in the series.
Lara Croft has of course been played on the screen by both Angelina Jolie and more recently Alicia Vikander, but no casting has been announced for Amazon’s “Tomb Raider” series.
Stay tuned for more on this exciting project as we learn it.
