Remember that fan-made remake of the Resident Evil remake from last August? The Biohazard: RE1 team has dropped a new video giving a tour of the iconic Spencer Mansion, remade in Unreal Engine 5.
This video is actually the first of four videos that the team has planned to showcase their work on their Resident Evil remake project. The other videos to come will include the team’s progress on the backyard, guest house, and finally the underground Arklay Laboratory.
At over a half an hour, the video goes over seemingly every detail of the mansion, as if you were playing the game. Think of it as a guided tour, but with no sign of any zombies. In spite of that, there’s definitely an eerie feeling about the video as the camera slowly pans through the hallways and corridors, thanks in part to the atmosphere that the team was able to recreate within Unreal 5.
Unfortunately, the sad news about this whole project is that no matter how good this looks, the team doesn’t have any plans to develop it into a full game. Really, it’s another case of “What if?” when it comes to talk of Capcom deciding to remake the 2002 remake. Will we see it? With the recent Resident Evil 4 remake racking up the sales, you have to wonder if Capcom would do it.
Thanks to DSOGaming for this.
