Sure, Phasmophobia is fun and all, but what if instead of photographing ghosts, you exorcized them instead? That’s where Kyles Garage’s Obsideo comes in. Currently in development over on itch.io, the game is still early in development, but the dev has plans for the game to hit Steam “late next month”.
Similar to Phasmophobia, you and up to three friends (as priests) explore different locations that are experiencing paranormal events in an attempt to figure out what ghost they’re dealing with, and remove it. You’ve got your standard ghost hunting equipment, along with a ‘Ghostpedia’ to give you info on the ghost that you’re dealing with. You have over 15 different ghost types, so you’ll be busy.
Instead of finding specific items and clues, and generating your conclusions from them, Obsideo instead focuses more on paying attention to context clues and what the ghost looks like, and how it interacts with the environment. According to the developer, this allows for a more replayability and keeps each playthrough unique. There’s also more of a focus on the theme of exorcism, so your equipment reflects that.
If you’re looking to try it out, the game can be purchased from Kyle’s itch.io site. If you do purchase the game from there, once Obsideo goes live on Steam, you’ll be mailed a Steam key, as well.
