VR Bros are back at it with an updated version to their VR horror title A Wake Inn that was released earlier this year. A Wake Inn: Rebooked is a redesigned version of the game catered towards the PC, but with has the VR immersion roots still intact.
Once again, players assume the role of a wheelchair-bound mannequin that’s trapped in the art deco Silver Inn Hotel that’s filled with an army of living dolls. You’ve got to find out who you are, why you ended up in the hotel, and just who the mysterious voice is that’s guiding you.
For the PC version, A Wake Inn: Rebooked will take the design choices that made the VR experiences so immersive the first time, and carry those over to the PC version. On top of that, Rebooked will feature a new ending, new locations, as well as a redesigned system for sneaking around and fighting.
“Horror games rely so much on immersion. To feel terror, you need to believe that you’re in danger. You also need to believe that what’s around you is real.” said Pawel Sikora, Designer at VR Bros. “With VR, one way to make players feel more immersed in their surroundings is by making the environment more interactive. If you can touch it, grab it, and use it, it feels like it belongs in the same place as where your mind and senses are. We want to give that environmental freedom to PC players, too.”
