Take your seats; the show is about to begin. M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap is now out in theaters, and so, too, is the soundtrack from musical artist Saleka Shyamalan, who plays pop star Lady Raven in the film.
Saleka’s Lady Raven (Original Music From The Motion Picture TRAP) is out everywhere, giving fans multiple ways to experience Trap. Listen now.
In the thriller starring Josh Hartnett, “A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.”
As the official trailer for Trap reveals, the pop concert is actually an elaborate trap designed to catch The Butcher, a sadistic serial killer who has been evading authorities.
Per the press release, “Saleka and her dad, filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, had always shared an appreciation for music-driven films and long dreamed of a collaboration. They essentially built TRAP from kitchen table conversations. ‘Purple Rain is one of our favorite movies,” she says. “Film and music often go hand in hand in our culture, they are equally important in Bollywood movies. The concept for Trap came from family conversations in the kitchen about wanting to bring these two art forms together in our own way. I wrote a lot of the songs at my parent’s house in the living room. This project felt like home, but allowed me to try musical ideas I never had before. It’s so pure and special to me.'”
Chief songwriter and producer on all 14 tracks, the Pennsylvania-born singer, songwriter, producer, and pianist crafted and composed each song entwined with her father’s script from beginning to end.
The soundtrack includes previously released singles “Save Me”, “Release” and “DIVINE” Ft. Kid Cudi, the album features 11 previously unheard gems from the film, as well as contributions from special guests Russ, and Amaarae. Look for Kid Cudi to appear in the film alongside Saleka as well, in a cameo role.
