Fancy another upcoming game that pays tribute to Survival Horror classics? Developer Jukai Studio hopes so with the release of the alpha demo of Stray Souls, a psychological horror game powered by the Unreal Engine 5 that’s coming to Steam.
Taking cues from Silent Hill, Stray Souls centres around teenage protagonist Daniel, who inherits a suburban house from his estranged grandmother. On the day that he moves in, he happens to meet a mysterious girl who seems to know a lot more about the house than what he’s been told. From there, things unravel, monsters show up, and classic puzzles, psychological horror and combat sequences ensue.
Several YouTubers have uploaded first look videos of the Stray Souls demo (including Alpha Beta Gamer below), which offers around 10 minutes of gameplay. The game will also use a branching dialogue system that will leave you with unanswered questions, and the excuse to play it again to see just where the story goes. According to the Steam page, Stray Souls also boasts “next-gen facial mocap”, which combined with the Unreal Engine 5, is downright gorgeous as it is horrifying.
There’s no release date yet, so keep an eye on the Steam page for future updates.
