The filmmakers behind Freaky, Happy Death Day and Werewolves Within are joining forces for the genre-bending slasher rom-com Heart Eyes, which now has a release date.
Spyglass will be releasing Heart Eyes in theaters February 7, 2025.
Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within, Scare Me) is directing the Valentine’s Day-themed horror movie, with Mason Gooding (Scream) and Olivia Holt (“Cruel Summer”) starring.
In Heart Eyes, “when the Heart Eyes Killer strikes Seattle, a pair of co-workers pulling overtime on Valentine’s Day are mistaken for a couple by the elusive couple-hunting killer. Now they must spend the most romantic night of the year running for their lives.”
Devon Sawa (Final Destination, “Chucky”) and Jordana Brewster (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) will also star in the Spyglass horror movie.
The upcoming slasher movie from Spyglass (Scream, Scream VI, Thanksgiving) features a screenplay written by Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard), Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky), and Michael Kennedy (Freaky).
Josh Ruben said in a statement shared by Deadline, “My love of horror is rivaled only by my love of romantic comedies. I’m excited as hell to mount my most challenging genre bender to date: a brutal slasher in a nostalgic rom-com universe.”
Christopher Landon and Divide/Conquer’s Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks (M3gan, Totally Killer) are producing. Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Chris Stone will serve as EPs with Murphy.
