If the upcoming My Little Blood Cult wasn’t enough company for horror fishing game DREDGE, then developer Monumental Collab’s newly-announced Drowned Lake will fit the bill. Arriving on Steam, the game is inspired by Brazilian mythos, demonstrating “a unique, twisted vision of a melting pot of cultural legacy,” with some Lovecraftian undertones.
Drowned Lake features a non-linear story that’s told from 3 perspectives: a firefighter, a journalist and an elderly fisherman. The story revolves around the mystery surrounding a student who went missing in Brazil’s Mata Atlântica. Search parties are also reporting strange noises and sightings in the area, with authorities urging people to stay away.
Blending first-person exploration, investigative puzzles, and fishing mechanics, players will gather clues, solve puzzles, and cast their lines into the murky waters in order to uncover the secrets of the Drowned Lake. But be wary of the dangers that lurk beneath the surface. Not to mention the “consequences” of your actions as you disturb the tranquility of the forest.
In addition to being able to wishlist Drowned Lake on Steam, Monumental Collab has given fans of its previous title, the free-to-play found-footage horror game TELEFORUM (which takes place in the same universe as Drowned Lake), a free update that bridges the gaps between the two games, and will “reward the most attentive players with more clues about the nature of both.”
