Back in March, Ratalaika Games and developer Headware Games revealed their PS1-styled horror title Chasing Static. Over the weekend, the title got some new exposure during Realms Deep 2021 with a brand-new trailer. The release date for Chasing Static is still listed as “Q3 2021”.
If you’re keen on getting a taste of the game before its release, you can also snag the demo on Steam.
Inspired by 80s sci-fi horror and “contemporary surrealist cinema”, Chasing Static takes place in the small town of Hearth in North Wales. During a raging storm, protagonist Chris Selwood seeks refuge in a remote roadside café. Unfortunately for Chris, he finds the café waitress pinned to the ceiling by some creature, which has him passing out and waking up shortly thereafter to the dusty old abandoned remains of the café. What follows is Chris exploring the remains of a mysterious facility, and trying to piece together what happened to the missing villagers of Hearth.
Chasing Static will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
