While we wait for Konami to follow through on those rumoured remakes/remasters of the first three entries in the Metal Gear Solid series, one fan decided to give a glimpse into a “What if?” scenario with Metal Gear Solid 2‘s iconic intro cinematic redone in Unreal Engine 5.
Erasmus Brosdau, art director for Crysis, Ryse and Star Citizen, took to Twitter recently to show off preliminary work on recreating the intro cinematic in real-time. It’s only five second, but it’s far better than what anyone could have imagined in 2001. Hideo Kojima himself even retweeted the work, so it has his thumbs up!
This isn’t the first time Erasmus has dabbled in remaking a cutscene, as he also remade the original intro for Metal Gear Solid back in 2018.
Meanwhile, we’re waiting on updates regarding director Jordan Vogt-Roberts‘ (Kong: Skull Island) film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid, which had begun casting back in 2020 with Oscar Isaac taking on the role of Solid Snake. Of course, Isaac is busy playing Moon Knight at the moment, so here’s hoping we hear more about the project this year.
