Say what you will about the Resident Evil: Survivor series, there are those who are fans of it. Case in point: Modder Aydan Watkins has come through with a demo for his Resident Evil: Survivor Redux Mod that pays tribute to the first-person shooter series.
As with Aydan’s other mods, this one uses the original version of the game (in this case, Resident Evil 2), though it’s not required to have it in order to play. What’s even more interesting is that (if you know how to do it) you can play the demo on original PlayStation hardware. According to Aydan, the video is mainly to “document what can be done with PlayStation mods”, and isn’t a proper playthrough.
As for the demo itself, right away, you’ll see that the first-person elements from Survivor are gone. Instead, it’s the familiar locked camera perspective, and the gameplay shown is reminiscent of the mainline series. That being said, the mod still needs a bit of polish, but what’s here serves as a treat for those who enjoyed the original Survivor series of games.
