‘Void Stealer Bodycam Horror’ Aims to Take the Genre to the Next Level [Trailer]

Solo developer Maksim Lakomskii is looking to shake up the budding Bodycam Horror genre of games with their intense sci-fi horror FPS, Void Stealer Bodycam Horror. Slated for release later this year on Steam, Void Stealer combines the aforementioned bodycam view with roguelike and extraction shooter gameplay mechanics in an open world setting that’s as horrifying as it is trippy.

The game takes place in what’s referred to as the Cluster – an abandoned area devastated by mysterious Delta radiation that’s now restricted  and guarded by military forces and extraterrestrial entities. Being in the Cluster takes you away from the familiar landscapes of Earth into the unchartered dimensions of the Void.

There, you’ll need to find Delta Energy (which you can use to power your gear’s abilities such as Bullet Time and increased jump height) and successfully leave the Cluster. However, the next visit can and will be different from your previous venture, as Void Stealer uses procedural generation from a selection of pre-designed elements to keep every run unique.

Void Stealer doesn’t use the “cheap and boring fish eye effect” that many other Bodycam Horror games use, but instead has a specially developed system that “greatly fits intense combats and even 3D-platforming” for realistic camera animations. This includes the “Screen Space Suffering” system, which is specifically designed to enhance the atmosphere of bodycam simulation. The mechanic allows players to feel every hit, every bullet and every drop of blood you lose, as it will literally spurt it onto the surrounding area.
