IndieGala has been plugging away at their Survival Horror game Vorax for a while now. And with Steam Next Fest right around the corner, the team has dropped a preview highlighting the upcoming 0.7 Next Fest update for Vorax, which is heading towards an Early Access release later this year on Steam.
According to the team, the update revamps many of the locations in the game, with the focus being on the caves and the monsters residing inside. “Drenched” in mutagenic tissue, the caves function as nests and hatcheries for these creatures, which happen to be larger and stronger than the foes you’d normally encounter on the island.
The update will be included in a new demo for Steam Next Fest, along with the open Alpha for Vorax. The demo will be limited to one square kilometer, as opposed to the final game’s 10 square kilometres.
Referred to as a darker take on Sons of the Forest, Vorax is set on a Mediterranean island that’s been overtaken by a mysterious pathogen that’s turned the local populace into horrifying monsters. An army battalion sent to quarantine the population has gone missing, so the government sends you in to investigate. Your helicopter crashes on the island, stranding you with low supplies. You’ll need to craft tools, build barricades, fences, and traps as well as find, upgrade, and maintain your shelter to survive while trying to discover the origins of the virus.
The February edition of Steam Next Fest runs from February 5th to the 12th.
